US mid-term election update: Democrats secure the 218 seats needed to gain control of the House of Representatives

According to the official results, Democrats have secured the needed 218 seats to win control of the House of Representatives and Republicans retained their control of the Senate, confirming a split Congress. 

The Congressional gridlocks held the US Dollar bulls on the defensive, though now seems unlikely to have any further major impact for the markets.
